Data includes opinions and behaviours towards biodegradable and compostable plastics, food waste disposal, home composting methods, geographical location, observed disintegration and degradation performance of compostable plastics in home compost. The survey comprised questions about opinions and behaviours towards biodegradable and compostable plastics, food waste and composting behaviours. The home composting experiment comprised self selecting compostable materials and testing them in participant home composters and sharing results about disintegration and degradation of the material after a participant’s normal composting timeframes via an online account. Data were analysed by the UCL Plastic Waste Innovation Hub research team (Purkiss et al., 2022).
