During field season (usually March to November) monthly surveys of Goudier Island's shoreline are conducted. All marine debris is recorded and, where possible, removed. Each item of debris is recorded using CCAMLR's beach debris categories (item code and description). The number, weight and size of the debris is also recorded. Debris item size is categorised as follows S = small (less than 2.5cm), M = medium (2.5cm to 10cm), L = large (10cm to 1m), and VL = very large (more than 1m). Port Lockroy was established in 1944 and it is probable that some of the debris found originates from this period. Debris descriptions have been examined by an expert in the field and items which are probably of historical origin have been identified and highlighted. Data on surveys that found no debris, as well as additional comments, are included as additional information. asNeeded completed
