Described in the paper Unravelling the complex record of magma flow and solidification in sills (Williams et al. 2025 - accepted into the Journal of the Geological Society May 2025). This work was completed at the University of Liverpool. Samples were collected and named WS01, WS02, WQC1C, WQC2C and WQC3C. The dataset includes .ctf files from the samples, which contain crystal orientation data from thin sections, .ran files which include the AMS and AARM fabric information for each sample, and .cur files of magnetic susceptibility data, hysteresis data from VFTB. These rock samples were cut into orientated thin sections and cored. The thin sections were carbon coated and analysed using scanning electron microscopy techniques at the Scanning Electron Microscopy Shared Research Facility (SEM-SRF) at the University of Liverpool to determine the petrology, mineral textures, and crystallographic preferred orientations. The cores were prepared for variable field translation balance (VFTB) and bulk susceptibility measurements during high temperature cycling to determine the magnetic carriers. From here, the same specimen cores were then used for AMS and AARM analysis to determine orientations.
