Digital image correlation and mechanical stress test measurements on Passer sparrow skull models

This dataset comprises reference and deformed images of F1 hybrid and house sparrow (THE) hybrid skull prints and a short Matlab code to extract wireframe deformation model. Loading was conducted at the University of Nottingham in 2023 on a customised loading frame. A reference database is provided as an example of pre-processed data. Statement

Samples were derived from the collection at the Natural History Museum, Oslo, Norway. All samples were scanned with the use of a high-resolution X-ray Waygate Technologies v|tome|x M 240kV CT system at 26μA at the Hounsfield Facility on the Sutton Bonnington Campus of the University of Nottingham, UK. These were then 3D printed using polyamides at the University of Nottingham. Printed skulls were then tested for mechanical stress in a multiaxial loading frame and stresses quantified using digital image correlation. The deposited data are the results and analysis from this deformation step.
