UK Onshore Bottom Hole Temperatures

This dataset contains a listing of bottom hole temperature (BHT) data compiled by the UK Onshore Geophysical Library (UKOGL). The information is collated from end of well reports and log headers for onshore boreholes.

A bottom hole temperature is a temperature taken at the base of a borehole after drilling has been completed. Temperatures are provided in degrees Celsius and degrees Fahrenheit, at measured depth and true vertical depth subsea.

Drilling operations require the circulation of fluid, usually a type of mud inside a borehole. This circulation of fluid can cause local deflections in the temperature gradient which can take hours or days to stabilise. To provide context to the results, the time since circulation ceased is also included, though it is not always available from legacy sources.
