Wetland Explorer

The Wetland Explorer is a web-based application that lets you explore the effect of creating wetlands on the water quality in two rivers in north London: the Pymme’s and Salmon’s Brooks.

Wetlands can improve river water quality by removing pollutants from surface water. The application lets you imagine that you have created new wetlands along the two rivers, and then see what a computer model predicts the change in water quality will be at different points along them. Changes in the flow of the rivers as well as changes in nitrate, phosphorus, and ammonium concentrations have been modelled. You can also examine what the climate of 2050 might mean for the flow in the rivers and their quality.
