The variables measured include mortality, growth, reproductive output, necrosis and photosynthetic efficiency, recorded over a total duration of 64-days. This dataset was created as part of an experiment to investigate the effects of exposure to commercial pre-production biodegradable (polybutylene adipate terephthalate, PBAT) and conventional (Polyethylene terephthalate, PET) microplastics (0.2 % w/w). Throughout the experiment, measures associated with plant health: mortality and proportion of necrotic tissue (visually scored) were recorded. Quantum efficiency of Photosystem II (Fv/Fm) was measured throughout (plant efficiency analyser chlorophyll fluorimeter (Pocket PEA, Hansatech Instruments, UK)). The number of flower spike and the root:shoot ratio were determined when the experiment was terminated. This dataset comprises 2 files Plantago_data.csv, and Plantago_data_necrosis.csv. details of their structure are provided in the accompanying README document.
