“Oxygen, Dissolved as O2”, corresponds to WIMS determinand code 9924; unit: mg/L’.

The annual median of dissolved oxygen % saturation at each surface water monitoring point is assigned to one of the ecological status classes high, good, moderate, poor or bad derived for the lowland/high alkalinity river typology:

High ≥ 70%

Good ≥ 60% to <70%

Moderate ≥ 54% to <60%

Poor ≥ 45% to <54%

Bad <45%

The available data are extracted for the area of ‘Hertfordshire and North London’ and ‘Kent and South London’. Newly published data are incorporated into the WQE as they become available. Data from all freshwater river sample points collected for the purpose of “environmental monitoring statutory (EU directives)” (purpose code “MS”) with monitoring of selected determinands (substances) were used in the analysis.
