Economy-wide Material Flow Accounts (EW-MFA), Compilation Guide

The general purpose of economy-wide material flow accounts (EW-MFA) is to describe the interaction of the domestic economy with the natural environment and the rest of the world economy in terms of flow of materials (excluding water and air). In Eurostat's EW-MFA material outputs and inputs to the economy, cover extractions of materials from the natural environment, imports and exports of material goods with the rest of the world. Only flows crossing the system boundary (between the environment and the economy) on the inputside or on the output-side are counted. Material flows within the economy are not represented in EW-MFA.
