1-hourly medians of Aethalometer data (880 nm) measured at Halley station throughout 2015

1-hourly medians of 1-min Aethalometer data measured at 880 nm. The hourly medians are derived from the 1-min observations; missing data arise from rejection of medians where fewer than 50% of the 1-min average data were present. Observations were made at Halley research station, in coastal Antarctica, as part of the British Antarctic Survey programme of tropospheric chemistry. Observations were made throughout 2015 at the Halley Clean Air Sector Laboratory.

Statement

Methodology:

Observations were made at the Halley Clean Air Sector Laboratory, using a Magee Scientific model AE-33 Aethalometer. Data were generated by instrument software, with no additional data processing, other than deriving medians.

Observations are part of on-going ground-based atmospheric chemistry measurements at Halley Clean Air Sector Laboratory.

Data collection:

Instrumentation - Multi-wavelength Aethalometer: Magee Scientific model AE-33.

Data quality:

The manufacturer-defined detection limit for an AE-33 is 5 ng.m-3 over a 1-hour observation period. The hourly medians are derived from the 1-min observations; missing data arise from rejection of medians where fewer than 50% of the 1-min average data were present.
