Bat activity was recorded continually on three ultrasonic acoustic loggers for 185 days (31/04 to 01/11/2014) in an upland pine forest in the Cairngorms National Park, Scotland. Wind direction cardinals was calculated from degrees using the following equation in Microsoft excel (=CHOOSE(INT(MOD(((WindDir*100) +1125),36000)/4500)+1,"N", "NE", "E", "SE", "S", "SW", "W", "NW"), whilst cloud base categories were established using the following equation (=IF(CloudBase<350,"Fog",IF(CloudBase >650,"High","Low")). Bat activity data was expressed as passes per hour, and was calculated by the total number of passes/hours in night.
