Also included is the water depth of dam breach flow and discharge of dam breach flow under each scenario. The GLOFs scenarios were created using a simple dam breach model. A high-performance hydrodynamic model was then used to simulate the resulting flood hydrodynamics. The breach was assumed to start from a small channel formed at the dam crest (initial breach) and grows into a trapezoidal shape with a side-slope of 1:1 during the time of failure. The model further assumes an initial breach depth and a final breach depth, which can be quantified and prescribed according to current dam conditions. A fully hydrodynamic model based on the 2-D depth-averaged shallow water equations (SWEs) was adopted to predict the flooding processes driven by the flow out of the breach of the moraine dam.
